UFC 156 Odds – Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar

On Saturday, February 2, 2013, UFC 156 will air live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event of the evening, UFC Featherweight champion Jose “Scarface” Aldo will square off against former UFC Lightweight champion Frankie “The Answer” Edgar in a big 145 pound matchup. Despite being undersized for the division, Edgar established himself as one of the top 155 pounders in the world before dropping back to back controversial decisions to current champion Benson Henderson. If he wants to capture gold in a second weight class, though, he is going to have to find a way to deal with Aldo’s intensely effective striking and takedown defense.

In the semi-main event, former UFC Light Heavyweight champion “Suga” Rashad Evans will square off against skilled boxer and submission expert Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Evans is the better wrestler and more powerful puncher, but Nogueira has better technical boxing and a much more dangerous ground game, so this is a compelling matchup. Rounding out the card are a Heavyweight showdown pitting former Strikeforce champions Alistair Overeem and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva against each other, a Middleweight showdown between Jon Fitch and submission wiz Demian Maia, and a Flyweight bout between top contenders Joseph Benavidez and Ian McCall.
