Predictions for UFC 100: Lesnar vs. Mir 2

For the Main Event we have our Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir prediction page

Georges St-Pierre vs. Thiago Alves

Pats Prediction

  • Now on to the Co-Main event between the champ Georges St-Pierre taking on “The Pitbull” Thaigo Alves.  We are sure to see fireworks here as both fighters will look to finish this fight anyway possible.  Alves has clearly earned the #1 contender spot and is hungry for a win.  The Pitbull has said he will KO the champ St-Pierre on July 11.  There is no doubt Alves carries KO power and may be slightly better in the stand up.  But St-Pierre is so smart when he fights, he sticks to his game plan and executes beautifully.  This fight will be fast paced and full of action, but in the end St-Pierre will prove once again why he holds the belt.  St-Pierre via brutal ground & pound TKO.

Dan Henderson vs. Michael Bisping

Pats Prediction

  • Its finally time for the two coaches of TUF 9 Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping to do battle.  During the show the two had a few heated moments, but Henderson stayed mostly cool while Bisping ran his mouth.  Henderson will look to get the U.S. on the board as the U.K. swept the show.  Bisping ‘s first ever loss was to former UFC LHW champ Rashad Evans.  After this loss Bisping decided to try the waters at 185 lbs. He has since gone 3-0 and looks for a huge win over Henderson.  Bisping’s trainer claims he will out wrestle Henderson, which makes me wonder if he is trying to play mind games.  I believe his best bet is to keep this fight standing. Henderson will use his superior Greco Roman Wrestling and look to land that right hand bomb he posses.  Overall this fight will be extremely close and competitive.  In the end I see Bisping using effective counter punching and stuffing a good amount of Henderson’s take-down attempts. Bet on Bisping for a big upset via unanimous decision.

Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago

Pats Prediction

  • Well Fitch made his way back to the main card on this huge night of fights. He will be facing newcomer Paulo Thiago. Paulo Thiago shocked most MMA fans at UFC 95 when he TKO’d Josh Koscheck early in round one. Dana must think very highly of Thiago putting him on the main card of such a big event.  As much talent as Thiago has I think Dana should be building him up more with an easier opponent for his second round out.  Fitch will prove to be too much to handle. Fitch is too well rounded, with much much more experience.  I see this fight going to Fitch via second round TKO.

Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Alan Belcher

Pats Prediction

  • Japanese Judo standout Akiyama will be making his highly anticipated UFC debut against Alan “The Talent” Belcher. At UFC 93 Belcher pulled off a big upset against Denis Kang to spoil his UFC debut.  No doubt Belcher will look to do the same against Akiyama.  I think Belcher’s only chance in to keep this fight standing and land a huge punch.  Akiyama has faced better strikers than Belcher and his take-downs are extremely effective.  I see Akiyama getting this fight to the mat and securing a second round armbar.
