Kenia Rosas Shows Incredible Potential Prior To Pro Debut

Rosas last four fixtures looked like an uphill task considering that her opponents were respectively four, four, ten and fifteen years older than herself and also vastly more experienced. However, in retrospect, the challenge just did not seem tough enough for Rosas as she proved it by winning all four of her fights.

Rosas is still only a freshman in Wayland Baptist University and is already garnering compliments from some really big names in the industry thanks to her recent form, determination and pure, raw talent. The recent wins have given her a perfect boost in terms of kick starting her amateur Mixed Martial Arts Career.

The 18 year old really shone when the challenge was toughest. She was scheduled to fight an experienced veteran MMA fighter that trains in the revered Jackson – Winkeljohn camp in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was to fight the heavily favored Randee Morales and what made things even worse for Rosas was that she had still not completely recovered from an illness and was now under pressure to battle in her last fight as an amateur before she would make her professional debut in July. The teenage fighter was still able to convincingly beat Morales.

When asked about her mind set before her fights, Rosas said that she does not go into a fight with a plan set in stone, she said to go into a fight thinking “I’m going to do this” and “I’m going to do that” sounds good on paper but things often don’t go that way and you need to ever ready for anything that is thrown at you.

In the fight against Morales, Rosas was very well tutored. She used a straight right hand repeatedly to keep the energetic Morales at bay and slowly started working in kicks targeting Morales’ leg. Rosas was very well aware that a fighter the pedigree of Morales was no walk in the park especially considering that she trains in the same camp as fighters like Holly Holm and Jon Jones.
