Welterweight bout: Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald

In the opening bout of the evening, undefeated prospect Rory Macdonald puts his undefeated record on the line against by far his most formidable opponent to date, former WEC champ Carlos Condit. Macdonald has looked incredible so far in his career, but Condit is a huge step up for him who may be able to beat him at his own game.
Macdonald made a name for himself in King of the Cage, where his solid striking and excellent submissions helped keep him undefeated. In his UFC debut he armbarred Mike Guymon in the first round. What makes Macdonald so effective is how well-rounded he is, but Condit is also one of the better-rounded fighters in the division, so he is going to be tested to his limits.
Like Macdonald, Condit has very solid striking and an extremely dangerous submission game. He is probably less athletic than Macdonald, but his technique is almost definitely better and, most importantly, he has a massive advantage in the experience category.
When two guys with such similar skill sets meet, the advantage has to go to the veteran. Macdonald’s skills have never been tested by a world-class fighter, and Condit has been around the block a time or two. I think that is going to give Condit the edge in this one, and he should escape with a narrow decision.
Prediction: Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit via very close decision.
