UFC 88 Experience

I just got home from UFC 88 in Atlanta. I wanted to share with you all my experience at the event. Keep in mind I had a great 8 fight parlay throughout the fight.

I had excellent seats just above the floor level. I immediately made friends with the people sitting around and made some beer money by making bets with them. The night started off with Chonan vs Carneiro. It was a very close and somewhat boring fight with Chonan pulling off the decision and 1 fight from my 8 fight parlay going my way.

Next was MacDonald vs Lambert. MacDonald looked very comfortable and strong. He was out punching Lambert and eventually submitted him. One more fight my way.

The next fight was Boetsch vs Patt. I actually went to get a beer and the fight was over, so I had to watch it on replay on the tv screen. Boetsch with a beautiful right hand and KO win. So far I’m 3 for 8 on my parlay.

Next we had Pelligrino vs Tavares. This fight was the fight of the night. They were going back and forth with Pelligrino taking charge most of the fight. The crowd was cheering loudly and  most of the people around me were rooting for Tavares. Not me, and at this point I’m 4 for 8.

Now on to the main card. First we had Kim vs Brown. Kim looked a little sloppy at first, but controlled the fight in almost all 3 rounds. This fight was a little boring to watch but Kim pulled off the decision and I was 5 for 8 on my parlay.

Next was Marquardt vs Kampmann. Marquardt looked excellent in this fight overwhelming Kampmann and out striking him for a KO victory. Randy Couture was at the side of Kampmann and as they were walking in, they watched the fight on the big Screen tv. I was 6 for 8 now.

Now onto Henderson vs Palhares. Henderson out worked and looked  like the fighter he should be. Palhares was getting frustrated from Henderson stuffing every one of his take down attempts. I was impressed with Henderson and this was a very exciting fight. Henderson unanimous decision win. 7 for 8 now.

Next was Franklin vs Hamill, this was the only fight I did not bet on. I really thought Hamill would pull off the upset. Not the case, Hamill looked terrible as if he didn’t want to win. His corner was signaling the whole fight to go for the take down. He was outclassed and beat to the punch by Franklin. Franklin landed a great kick to the liver and that was it.

The main event arrived and I’m pretty excited for the fight, especially knowing if Chuck wins I win my 8 fight parlay and $800! In the first round there was not too much excitement as they both felt each-other out, Chuck instead of being the counter puncher was stalking Evans and paid for it in the next round. I was really shocked it was a nasty knock out. Everyone else in the building was also shocked and  almost everyone booed Rashad after the knock out. I must say I booed as well mainly because I lost $800. Oh well there is always the next UFC 89.
