UFC 81 picks – UFC 81 predictions

ufc 81 predictions

UFC 81 takes place on Saturday, February 2nd in Las Vegas at 10:00 PM. Our picks for UFC 79 and UFC 80 both made our readers some nice money. If this is your first time here, note that I bet mostly for value and play a lot of underdogs. I also do not bet on every fight, I just bet fights where I see an edge for us as bettors.

Brock Lesnar (-155) vs. Frank Mir (+125)

  • Well the anticipation continues to rocket for the UFC debut of Brock Lesnar. Will he be the next big star in MMA? Or will he be overwhelmed by the submission specialist Frank Mir? Well it’s tough to tell at this point, but thats what makes this match so intriguing. I always tend to stay away from favorites who have too many unknowns coming into a fight. Whether it be inexperience, rustiness or an injury….I just don’t like betting on favorites with too many unknowns. Well in this fight, Brock has tons of unknowns and he’s also a -155 favorite. I’m going to pray that Frank Mir did some cardio work leading up to this fight, and will be in good shape. If he did, then I think a bet on him at +125 vs. someone new to the cage is a great value play.
  • My bet : $100 on Frank Mir at +125 to win $125 (odds from Bodog)

Antonio “big nog” Rodrigo Nogueira (-180) vs. Tim Sylvia (+140)

  • This fight really has made my head spin. On one hand, I think Big Nog is the better fighter and I think he will win this bout. But on the other hand my betting knowledge continues to tell me that Sylvia is the right pick due to the good value, and the large amount of people betting on Big Nog.
  • My bet : $100 on Tim Sylvia at +140 to win $140.

Kyle Bradley (+400) vs. Chris Lytle (-600)

  • Who came up with these odds? First of all I love jumping on underdogs who are +400 and over. Over the longhaul betting against the huge favorites is going to turn a profit. Kyle Bradley is a decent fighter, and Chris Lytle has never been the type of fighter that would warrant these odds. This is a great value play on Kyle Bradley. If you play at BetUS, you can get the odds at +500 for Bradley.
  • My bet : $25 on Kyle Bradley at +400 to win $100

Alan Belcher (+100) vs. Ricardo Almeida (-130)

  • Belcher is coming off a 2-1 2007 with wins against Kalib Starnes and Sean Salmon. Belcher has shown some steady improvement over the past two years. Ricardo Almeida is 8-2 in his MMA career with his most recent win coming in May of 2004. That’s a long time to be out of the octagon, and I think it will show in this fight. Belcher looks to be a good play at +100
  • My bet : $50 on Alan Belcher at +100 to win $50.
