UPDATE: AFFILICTION HAS SHUT DOWN THEIR MMA FIGHTS AS OF JULY 24, 2009
Live on Saturday August 1, 2009 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Affliction will be hosting their third event “Trilogy”. For the Main Event we have the Pound for Pound king Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko (30-1) will do battle against former UFC HW Champ and number 1 contender Josh “The Babyface Assassin” Barnett (24-5). This will be the third time Fedor has been in the spotlight for Affliction and his second WAMMA title defense. Barnett will be the sixth former UFC Champ to try and dethrone the mighty Fedor if you count Nog as the interim HW UFC champ . Hopefully Barnett will give a better fight than the last two and make it out if the first round.

Also on the card is Sengoku Middleweight Champ Jorge Santiago (21-7) facing “The Phenom” Vitor Belfort who is looking to be a threat once again. Just recently Dana White has talked about his interest in luring Vitor back to the UFC. Renato “Babalu” Sobral is back in action after choking out Sokoudjou at Affliction 2 taking on Gegard Mousasi (25-2-1) who gave up his Dream MW title to fight at HW defeating Mark Hunt. Mousasi will no longer be competing at middleweight due to cutting the weight and plans on fighting at LHW and HW. All in all this will be a very exciting card all around, so sit back and enjoy the fights.
